According to Detective Thomas Burnett, Taylor was traveling on I-24 near Waldron Road toward Nashville around 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 12, 2025, when he was fatally shot behind the wheel. The vehicle he was driving veered off the highway and came to a stop after the incident, sparking a homicide investigation that has shaken the local community.

Authorities are specifically seeking dash cam video from drivers who were traveling between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. on I-24, particularly in the stretch from Interstate 840 to the Bell Road exit.
