DENNY, SCOTLAND — It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic news of Jamie Johnstone, a 37-year-old man from Denny, who lost his life in a fatal crash on the M9 northbound between junctions six and seven, near Carronshore, in the early morning hours of Wednesday, July 9, 2025.
The crash occurred around 4:30 a.m., involving a black Vauxhall Corsa. Jamie, who was behind the wheel, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene, despite the rapid response of emergency services. A 32-year-old male passenger who was also in the vehicle was transported to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, where he remains in stable condition.
As news of Jamie’s passing spreads, his family has released a heartfelt statement through Police Scotland, expressing the depth of their grief:
“As a family we are absolutely heartbroken. Jamie was a beloved son and brother, devoted father and dear friend to many.
A huge hole in our hearts and lives is left behind as we begin to navigate life without him. He was a lovable and unforgettable character who lived life to the fullest and will be sorely missed by everyone who knew him.
We would like to express our gratitude and appreciation to the emergency services who were at the scene and who have assisted us through this tragic situation.”
Jamie was more than just a victim of a road accident—he was a man whose energy, love, and laughter left a lasting imprint on those around him. Friends describe him as a loyal and passionate friend, a dedicated father, and a man full of life, always ready with a story, a joke, or a helping hand. His loss is being deeply felt across the Denny community and beyond.
Road Policing Sergeant Scott Kirkpatrick, speaking on behalf of Police Scotland, offered his condolences and renewed the appeal for information:
“Our thoughts remain with Jamie’s family and friends at this extremely difficult time.
Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the crash and I’d again appeal to anyone with information to come forward.
