Media Release: Sebastian County Sheriff’s Office Provides Update on Lavaca Shooting Investigation

The Sebastian County Sheriff’s Office has released an update regarding the shooting incident that occurred on Thursday, July 10, 2025, in the 1500 block of East Main Street in Lavaca, Arkansas. Responding to emergency calls, law enforcement arrived at the scene to find a male victim suffering from critical injuries. The victim has since been identified as Richard Bradley Jones, a 52-year-old resident of Charleston, Arkansas.

Sadly, Richard Bradley Jones succumbed to his injuries, and his body has been sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for autopsy. As of this update, the final autopsy report has not yet been released.

The Criminal Investigation Division (CID) has conducted numerous interviews with individuals who may have knowledge relevant to the case, and additional interviews are scheduled in the coming days. Investigators continue to gather evidence and build a clearer picture of the events that led to Mr. Jones’s tragic death.

At this point in the investigation, no arrests have been made, and no formal charges have been filed. The Sheriff’s Office is working closely with the Sebastian County Prosecutor’s Office to ensure a thorough and methodical investigation before moving forward with any legal action.

“Our deepest sympathies go out to the family of Richard Bradley Jones,” said Captain Philip Pevehouse. “This is a heartbreaking loss, and we are committed to finding out exactly what happened that day. Our team is working tirelessly to ensure justice is served.”
