BAKERSFIELD, CA —The Bakersfield Police Department has confirmed the arrest of 50-year-old Derrick Williams, following a fatal stabbing that occurred around 4:28 p.m. on Ream Way.
When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered Gabriela Flores Rodriguez, 54, lying in the front yard of a residence, suffering from multiple stab wounds. Despite the swift response from emergency personnel, Rodriguez was pronounced dead at the scene, unable to be revived. The Kern County Coroner’s Office has since identified her as the victim.
Williams was taken into custody without incident shortly after the stabbing. Authorities also confirmed that a weapon believed to be used in the attack was recovered during the arrest.
