Tragic Loss of 16-Year-Old Aliyah Williams Shakes the Williamsbridge Community

BRONX, NY — July 15, 2025 — A community is shattered, a family is broken, and a promising life has been cut short in a heartbreaking act of violence that has left the Williamsbridge neighborhood of the Bronx reeling with grief. Aliyah Williams, a bright and beloved 16-year-old girl, was fatally stabbed inside Deli Grocery, located at 3511 Boston Road near Mickle Avenue, on Tuesday afternoon in an incident that has stunned residents and city leaders alike. The New York Police Department (NYPD) confirmed that officers responded to a 911 call around 3:50 p.m. reporting an assault in progress.

When they arrived on scene, they found Aliyah suffering from multiple stab wounds to her face, chest, and torso—injuries sustained during a violent altercation believed to have occurred inside the deli.

Aliyah was immediately rushed to Jacobi Medical Center, but despite the efforts of medical staff, she was pronounced deceased shortly after arrival.

According to initial reports from NYPD sources shared with ABC7NY and the New York Post, the stabbing may have stemmed from a dispute, though specific details remain unclear. Authorities are reviewing surveillance footage and seeking witnesses. As of July 16, no arrests have been made, and the suspect remains at large. No suspect description has yet been released to the public.

Aliyah’s death has sent shockwaves throughout her neighborhood, school, and social circles. Known for her infectious smile, warm personality, and passion for life, Aliyah was not only a dedicated student but a loyal friend, cherished daughter, and vibrant part of her community. Friends and family have flooded social media with tributes, mourning the sudden loss of someone described as “a cherished soul taken too soon.”

“She always made people laugh. Her energy was magnetic,” one classmate shared. “No one deserves this, least of all someone as kind and full of life as Aliyah.”

Community leaders and local advocates have voiced outrage over the tragedy, pointing to the increasing levels of youth violence and the urgent need for conflict resolution education, mental health support, and safer community spaces.

The corner of Boston Road and Mickle Avenue has since become a solemn site of mourning. Flowers, candles, balloons, and handwritten notes now line the sidewalk outside the deli, creating an impromptu memorial for a life taken far too soon. Strangers and loved ones alike have stopped to pay their respects, some in tears, others in silent disbelief.

While the investigation continues, the NYPD is urging anyone with information that might assist in identifying and locating the suspect to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477). Tips can also be submitted online

A memorial service for Aliyah Williams is currently being planned by her family, with further details to be announced in the coming days.
