Tragic Vehicle Crash Claims the Life of Beloved Community Member Chase Draper

Freckle County, MD –

The Frederick County community is reeling with grief following the tragic death of Chase Draper, a devoted family man and respected consumer banking professional with Chase Bank. The 33‑year‑old Urbana resident succumbed to injuries sustained in a multi-vehicle collision late Tuesday night, July 15.

 The Incident

At approximately 11:45 p.m., emergency crews responded to a severe vehicular accident on Route 355 near Urbana Village Drive. The crash involved a total of nine vehicles, with reports indicating that one vehicle—including Mr. Draper—veered off the roadway and made significant impact with a roadside barrier.

Frederick County Fire & Rescue teams and Maryland State Police arrived promptly and worked to extricate trapped occupants. Mr. Draper was found in critical condition and was swiftly transported to Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown. Despite the efforts of medical staff, he tragically passed away early Wednesday morning.

A Life of Commitment and Contribution

Chase Draper was not just a gifted banking professional—he was a pillar of the community, deeply committed to family, friends, and neighbors. Since joining Chase Bank five years ago, he had become known for his integrity, hard work, and genuine care for every client he assisted. Colleagues remember him as thoughtful, dependable, and deeply respected.

Beyond work, Chase was a loving husband to his wife, Melissa, and a devoted father to his two young daughters, Sophia and Ella. Friends recall weekday evenings spent helping with homework and weekends filled with family outings, soccer games, and laughter echoing across the lawn.

“He was the kind of dad who never missed a bedtime story,” said a close friend. “Chase always put his family first, and did it with so much joy.”

 Nine Lives Forever Changed

The crash left eight other individuals injured, several seriously. Medical sources have confirmed they remain under treatment at Meritus and Frederick Health Hospital, where loved ones stand vigil and await updates on their recovery. Authorities say that none of the other occupants were life-threateningly injured.

Maryland State Police are leading a comprehensive investigation, including skid analysis, vehicle diagnostics, and witness interviews. As of now, charges have not been announced, and toxicology reports are pending.

 Mourning a Community Favorite

Since news of Chase’s passing spread, condolences have poured in from across Frederick County. Social media profiles are filled with memories shared by former clients, neighbors, and colleagues—all reflecting the same sentiment: he was not someone you forgot, and certainly not someone you couldn’t count on.

“You could see how much people trusted him,” wrote one banking customer. “He always made time for you, no matter what.”

A candlelight vigil has been proposed for this Saturday evening at Urbana Park, where community members are invited to celebrate Chase’s life, share stories, and offer support to his family.
