In Loving Memory of Pat Nightingale (1958–2025)

It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we announce the passing of a dearest friends and most cherished SQ legends, Pat Nightingale, who passed away peacefully at home on Friday, July 18th, 2025, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family.

Pat was, quite simply, one of a kind.

To anyone who knew him, Pat was more than just a colleague or a familiar face—he was the beating heart of our community. With his razor-sharp wit, trademark grin, and an uncanny ability to make anyone feel at ease (usually with a pint of Guinness in hand), Pat brought laughter, loyalty, and a whole lot of mischief into every room he entered. He wasn’t just part of the fabric at SQ—he helped stitch it together with his infectious humor, big heart, and unforgettable stories.

Many will remember Pat for his quick comebacks, uncanny impressions, and of course, his alter ego—Brian the Halloween waiter—who made annual appearances that had us all in stitches. That brilliant combination of charm and cheekiness is what made him such a beloved figure. He could be hilarious and heartfelt in the very same breath.

Though he’d often joke about putting up the price of Guinness or teasing someone about their tea order, beneath all the banter was a man with endless kindness and depth. Pat looked out for people. He knew how to make you laugh when you needed it most, and he always made time for a quiet word or a cheeky grin when you didn’t expect it. He had that rare gift of making people feel like they belonged—because with Pat, they did.

His passing leaves an immeasurable void in our hearts and in the halls of SQ, where his presence was always a comfort and a constant. It’s hard to imagine the place without him. No one filled a room quite like Pat, and no one ever will.

To Pat’s beloved family, we extend our deepest love and condolences. We know how much he adored you all—he spoke of you often and always with pride. Our thoughts are with you as you navigate this profound loss, and please know that your grief is shared by many who considered Pat a part of their own extended family.

We raise a glass (of Guinness, of course) to Pat—a true original, a loyal friend, and a man who brought warmth, laughter, and a touch of brilliance wherever he went. You will be missed more than words can ever say.

Much love to the entire Nightingale family, and to everyone who loved Pat.
We shall miss you every day, mate. Until we meet again.

With love and fond remembrance,
Your SQ Family
Xx
