Serious Multi-Vehicle Crash on Highway 285 Leaves Four Injured, Three in Critical Condition

JEFFERSON COUNTY, CO — Emergency crews rushed to the scene of a multi-vehicle crash early Monday morning, July 21, 2025, on Highway 285, just north of the Highway 8 exit. The accident involved two passenger vehicles and a truck, resulting in four injuries, including three individuals who were transported in critical condition to nearby hospitals.

Units from West Metro Fire Rescue, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, and Colorado State Patrol responded swiftly to the incident, which occurred during the morning commute and caused significant traffic delays in the area.

Due to the severity of the impact and the extensive damage to at least two of the vehicles, emergency responders were forced to use extrication tools to safely remove trapped occupants. Firefighters worked methodically under intense conditions to free those inside while paramedics rendered immediate life-saving aid on site.

The injured victims were triaged and transported to local hospitals. Three of them were reported to be in critical condition, while a fourth person sustained less severe injuries and was treated accordingly.

The Colorado State Patrol has taken over the investigation into the cause of the crash. As of now, details surrounding what led to the collision remain under review, including whether speed, weather, or impairment may have played a role. Authorities have not yet released the identities of the individuals involved.

Officials are asking any witnesses or drivers with dashcam footage from the area around the time of the crash to come forward and assist in the investigation.

Traffic on Highway 285 was diverted for several hours as crews cleared debris and investigators worked the scene, but all lanes have since reopened.

West Metro Fire Rescue emphasized the importance of safe driving, especially during peak travel hours. “This was a very serious crash that required a coordinated effort between multiple agencies,” a spokesperson said. “Our thoughts are with the injured and their families as they begin the road to recovery.”

As the community awaits more updates, this tragic incident serves as another reminder of the dangers of the road and the vital role of first responders who act swiftly to save lives.
