In Loving Memory of Dakota Steinhorst (2004–2025) ,A Life Gone Too Soon, But Forever Remembered

It is with broken hearts and profound sorrow that we share the tragic passing of Dakota Steinhorst, age 21, who was taken from us far too soon following an accident on July 20, 2025. Born on April 27, 2004, in Green Bay, Wisconsin, Dakota grew up in Denmark, where he left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege to know him. His spirit, laughter, and generous heart were the cornerstone of countless friendships and memories that will be cherished forever.

A proud graduate of the Denmark High School Class of 2022, Dakota was known for his strength and dedication both on and off the football field. Teammates and classmates alike saw him as a natural leader — someone who could lift spirits with just a smile or a quick, clever joke. His vibrant energy and adventurous spirit made him the kind of friend everyone wanted by their side.

Dakota had a deep love for the outdoors and lived a life filled with adventure. Whether hunting, farming, snowmobiling, or working on trucks, he was always happiest under the wide Wisconsin sky, doing what he loved most. He especially excelled at trap shooting, where his sharp aim and competitive nature earned him recognition on a national level — a true testament to his talent and determination.

But Dakota’s legacy goes beyond his achievements and hobbies. He will be remembered for his wit, generosity, and the way he made everyone feel seen and valued. He was always ready with a sarcastic quip, a helping hand, or a listening ear. Dakota’s presence lit up any room, and the void left in his absence is immeasurable.

He is survived by his loving parents: Cindy Selner and David (Sara) Steinhorst; his beloved sister Abby; his grandparents: Dennis and JoAnn Selner, and William “Grandpa Bill” and Janice “Nana JJ” Steinhorst. He also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, and a wide circle of devoted friends who were like family to him.

Dakota was preceded in death by other cherished family members, including grandparents, aunts, and uncles, who no doubt welcomed him with open arms.
