Shooting Incident – 145 Harrison Ave, Corning, Ohio

The Corning Police Department (CPD) is actively investigating a violent shooting incident that occurred on Sunday, July 20, 2025, in the village of Corning. At approximately 12:42 p.m., CPD received an emergency call reporting an active shooter at 145 Harrison Avenue.

Upon arrival, officers located the victim, Mr. Scott Thompson, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to both his upper and lower body. First responders acted swiftly, and Mr. Thompson was transported to Genesis Emergency Room, where he received immediate trauma care. His current condition has not been disclosed as the investigation continues.

Out of precaution and to ensure public safety, the Genesis Police Department, in coordination with CPD, placed the hospital on lockdown while officers worked to secure the area and search for the suspect or suspects involved in the shooting.

The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) was called in to conduct a thorough forensic investigation of the scene. Meanwhile, the Perry County Sheriff’s Office helped to establish a secure perimeter around the incident location.

CPD would like to extend its sincere appreciation to all agencies that responded with urgency and professionalism, including:

Thanks to this collaborative effort, public safety was maintained during a highly volatile and dangerous situation.
