LaGrange, GA — In a significant development following a horrific and fatal dog attack earlier this month, Derrick Parker, the man wanted in connection with the tragedy, has surrendered to authorities. On July 21, 2025, Parker turned himself in to the Troup County Sheriff’s Office and was taken into custody without incident.
Parker faces multiple felony charges, including Involuntary Manslaughter, Reckless Conduct, and Allowing a Dog to Run at Large. The charges stem from the July 11, 2025, incident that shook the LaGrange community, when officers responded to a brutal and deadly dog attack near the intersection of Swanson Street and Juniper Street.
According to the LaGrange Police Department, officers arrived at the scene to find a woman in the roadway being viciously mauled by two large dogs. Officers immediately intervened, managing to stop the attack and provide emergency medical assistance until paramedics from AMR arrived.
The victim, whose name has not yet been publicly released out of respect for the family, was transported to Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center with critical injuries. Despite the efforts of first responders and hospital staff, she tragically succumbed to her injuries shortly after arrival.
