HUNTSVILLE, AL — A terrifying incident in Huntsville has left a child injured and a community in shock. Authorities say the shooting happened Wednesday evening along Rime Village Drive, a residential area typically known for its peace and quiet.
Officers with the Huntsville Police Department (HPD) were called to the scene after reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they found a child suffering from a gunshot wound. The child was quickly transported to a nearby hospital, where they are being treated for injuries that, thankfully, are not believed to be life-threatening.
According to preliminary reports, the suspect — believed to be inside a dark-colored sedan — opened fire on a group of people outside before fleeing the scene. Neighbors were rattled by the sudden violence, especially given that a child was caught in the crossfire.
