Emma Jacob, a 22-year-old woman from Wisconsin, has tragically been confirmed deceased after being reported missing near Platteville, WI. Her sudden disappearance and heartbreaking death have sent shockwaves through her family, friends, and the wider community.
Emma was first reported missing on the morning of July 22. According to her sister, Sydney Wiltsie, Emma was last seen around 9:30 a.m., with her last known location being near the iconic “M” landmark—commonly referred to as the “big M”—located outside of Platteville.
The location, popular among hikers and residents, is known for its scenic views and quiet surroundings. When authorities arrived on the scene, they found Emma’s car parked nearby. Her phone, keys, and purse were also discovered in the area, deepening concerns for her safety.
Sydney took to Facebook that same day to ask the public for help, writing:
“My little sister Emma Jacob has been missing since around 9:30 this morning. Her last pinged location was near the mound, or the ‘big M’ in Platteville, WI. Her car, phone, keys, and purse were all found there. Police are involved and we ask that everyone in the Platteville area keeps an eye out for her and that she is found safe. Please keep her and our family in your prayers. 22 y.o. Female, roughly 5’6”, 120lbs, dark brown curly hair.”
Sadly, later that same day, the family received devastating news. Sydney returned to Facebook to share the heartbreaking update:
“Update: She has been found. At this time we ask you please respect our family’s privacy as we grieve the loss of our daughter, sister, and auntie. Thank you.”
The loss was confirmed by the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office, which told Men’s Journal that Emma Jacob had been found deceased. While no official cause of death has yet been released to the public, the sheriff’s department is believed to be investigating the circumstances.
The following day, Sydney posted another tribute to her beloved sister:
“My beautiful baby sister and my best friend in the whole world. I love you so much,” she wrote, accompanying the post with a touching photograph of Emma. The post quickly filled with hundreds of messages of sympathy and condolences from friends, family, and strangers alike, all mourning the tragic loss of a young woman gone far too soon.
