BALTIMORE, MD — Homicide detectives with the Baltimore Police Department have made an arrest in connection with a violent death that shocked the community earlier this month. 29-year-old Tyler Liggins, a Baltimore resident, has been taken into custody in relation to the killing of 43-year-old Travon Booth, whose body was discovered in a vehicle after a single-vehicle crash on northbound I-83 near the Ruxton Road exit.
The investigation began on July 19, 2025, when Maryland State Police responded to a crash involving a lone vehicle on I-83. Upon arrival, emergency responders found the male driver, later identified as Travon Booth, unresponsive in the vehicle. While the incident initially appeared to be the result of a traffic accident, further examination by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner revealed a different story: Booth had died from multiple blunt force injuries. His death was ruled a homicide.
Baltimore Police homicide detectives were notified of the findings on July 22, 2025, launching a full-scale investigation. Through extensive forensic analysis, witness interviews, and review of surveillance footage, detectives traced the events leading up to Booth’s death to the 1100 block of West Northern Parkway. It is believed that the fatal encounter originated at that location before the crash occurred on I-83.
Based on the evidence gathered, Tyler Liggins was identified as a suspect in Booth’s murder. On July 23, 2025, detectives located and arrested Liggins without incident. He was transported to the Central Booking Intake Facility, where he was officially charged with:
