Bessemer Woman Fatally Mauled by Dogs in Vacant Lot — Investigation Ongoing

BESSEMER, AL – July 25, 2025 — Authorities in Bessemer are investigating a tragic and disturbing incident after a woman was found dead early Thursday morning, the result of a fatal dog attack.

The victim has been identified as Delores Mukerson Musgrove, 50, of Adger, Alabama. Her body was discovered just before 7:00 a.m. on July 24 in an overgrown and vacant lot located in the 100 block of Martin Street near Norwood Avenue.

Responding to reports of a possible death, officers with the Bessemer Police Department arrived on scene and found Musgrove lying in tall grass. She was pronounced dead shortly after their arrival.

According to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, Musgrove sustained fatal injuries consistent with a mauling by multiple dogs. The attack is believed to have occurred shortly before her body was found.

Following the incident, Animal Control officers responded and removed several dogs from the area. Investigators are currently working to determine who owns the animals and whether they were responsible for the deadly attack.
