Columbus Teen Arrested in Connection to May Fatal Shooting of David Escobar

COLUMBUS, GA — A heartbreaking chapter in a months-long homicide investigation reached a turning point this week, as 17-year-old Madison Bunch was arrested in connection to the fatal shooting of David Escobar, also 17, who was tragically gunned down earlier this year.

The shooting occurred on May 6, 2025, at approximately 5:30 p.m. in the 1000 block of Vineville Street, a typically quiet area that was rocked by the sound of gunfire. When officers from the Columbus Police Department arrived at the scene, they discovered David Escobar suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite efforts by first responders, Escobar was pronounced dead, leaving his family and community in shock and mourning the sudden loss of a young life.

Bunch now faces charges of Murder and Burglary in connection to the shooting death of David Escobar.
