In Loving Memory of Rose Esthere Lacroix ,“She lived to care for others. Now we honor her by remembering her light.”

It is with profound sorrow and a heavy heart that the staff and community of Elizabeth Seton Residence Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Wellesley, Massachusetts, mourn the tragic and untimely loss of our beloved colleague and friend, Rose Esthere Lacroix. Rose’s life was stolen from us on June 30, 2025, in a heartbreaking act of domestic violence—just one day after finishing a shift devoted to caring for others. She was 30 years old.

Rose was more than a Certified Nursing Assistant—she was a force of compassion, humility, and strength. From the moment she joined our team, her presence was felt by all. Her patients adored her, consistently praising the kindness she brought to their lives and the dignity she afforded them in their most vulnerable moments. Her co-workers admired her dedication, her warmth, and her tireless work ethic. To know Rose was to be reminded of the quiet heroes among us—those who give so much without asking for anything in return.

Born in Haiti, Rose carried within her the strength of generations. She arrived in the United States on July 1, 2023, full of purpose and hope. Her mission was simple yet noble: to build a better life for her beloved 9-year-old son Jayden, and to support her aging mother back home. With courage in her heart and determination in every step, she worked relentlessly to turn that dream into reality.

In a short time, Rose became a shining example of resilience. She studied English, earned her CNA license, and quickly became an integral part of the Elizabeth Seton family. She often said that our facility was more than a job—it was a blessing, a community, a place where she found meaning and belonging.

On March 11, 2024, Rose married, placing her trust and heart in the promise of love and partnership. But tragically, that promise was shattered. On June 30, 2025, Rose was murdered by the very person she believed would protect her. It was a senseless act that has left our hearts broken and her young son motherless.

Rose gave everything she had. She worked multiple jobs, always with grace and without complaint. She sacrificed sleep, comfort, and time for herself—all to give her son a brighter future and to support her mother from thousands of miles away. She was the quiet strength behind her family’s survival, and now they must carry on without her.

Today, we remember Rose for who she truly was:

A loving mother.

A devoted daughter.

A tireless caregiver.

A hopeful immigrant.

A victim of domestic violence.

And most importantly—a woman whose life mattered deeply.

We are devastated by this loss and are standing beside her family—especially her son and mother—during this unimaginably painful time. Her brother, who now carries the weight of arranging her funeral and helping their grieving family travel to Boston from Haiti, needs our support.

We humbly ask for your help in giving Rose the farewell she so deserves. Contributions toward her funeral expenses and the costs of bringing her mother and son to her memorial will not only honor her legacy but also help a grieving family say goodbye with dignity.

Rose came to this country with the dream to serve, to uplift, and to love. She succeeded, even if her time was far too short. Let us now carry that dream forward in her memory.

Thank you for keeping Rose in your hearts.

May she rest in peace, and may her story inspire us all to cherish one another more deeply, to listen, to protect, and to always choose compassion.
