At approximately 5:35 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the 5300 block of Laurel Place following a 911 call reporting a male lying in the street with apparent gunshot wounds. Responding units arrived swiftly on scene and discovered the victim, later identified as Albayati, suffering from critical injuries caused by at least one gunshot wound to the back and upper chest.
