BIRMINGHAM, AL — A violent eruption of gunfire at a Birmingham apartment complex late Thursday night has left three people wounded, including one individual in life-threatening condition.
The shooting happened shortly after 10:30 p.m. on Knob Hill Drive, at the Valley Station Apartment Homes located off Valley Avenue. Birmingham police responded swiftly after reports of gunshots echoed through the area, alarming residents of the typically quiet complex.
Upon arrival, officers discovered multiple gunshot victims in the parking lot and immediately began securing the scene. Three individuals were transported to area hospitals. According to police, one victim suffered critical injuries, while the other two sustained non-life-threatening wounds.
Birmingham Police Officer Truman Fitzgerald reported that early findings suggest the shooting was preceded by a physical altercation — though it remains unclear what exactly sparked the conflict or how many shooters may have been involved.
