TULSA, Okla. (July 27, 2025) — A violent scene unfolded late Sunday night near the intersection of North Yale Avenue and East Apache Street as Tulsa Police Department officers responded to reports of gunfire in the area. The incident, which occurred shortly before midnight, has left two women injured — one of them critically — and prompted a citywide investigation as authorities confirmed that multiple shooters were involved.
According to initial reports from TPD, officers were dispatched to the scene after multiple 911 calls came in regarding shots fired in the vicinity of the busy North Tulsa neighborhood. Upon arrival, police found evidence of a chaotic scene, with shell casings scattered across the roadway and signs of a rapid, uncontrolled exchange of gunfire.
Witnesses in the area reported hearing multiple rounds ring out in quick succession, with some describing a brief but intense shootout that may have involved individuals firing from separate vehicles or on foot. Residents also reported seeing several individuals fleeing the scene immediately after the gunfire erupted.
Tulsa Police quickly established a perimeter and began canvassing the area for victims, witnesses, and surveillance footage that might help piece together what happened.
Shortly after the incident, authorities confirmed that two women had been shot during the exchange. One of the victims was transported to a nearby hospital via private vehicle before first responders arrived. The other woman was treated at the scene by EMSA medics and rushed to a local medical facility by ambulance.
According to Tulsa Police spokesperson Lt. Curtis Brown, one of the female victims is currently listed in critical condition, while the other is believed to be in stable condition. Their identities have not yet been released as investigators work to notify family members and gather more details.
In an update provided early Monday morning, TPD confirmed that preliminary evidence and witness statements indicate there were multiple shooters involved in the incident. It remains unclear whether the victims were intended targets or bystanders caught in the crossfire.
No arrests have been made as of yet, but investigators say they are reviewing surveillance footage from nearby businesses and residences. Authorities are urging anyone who may have seen or heard anything unusual in the area during the time of the shooting to come forward.
“We know that multiple people were involved, and we’re working diligently to identify everyone connected to this case,” Lt. Brown stated. “We’re asking for the community’s help — if you saw something or have video, please let us know. Your tip could be critical to solving this case.”
The shooting has once again sparked concern among North Tulsa residents, who have voiced frustration over ongoing gun violence in the community. Many are calling for increased patrols and community engagement to curb the rising number of shootings in the area.
Tulsa Police say they are committed to finding those responsible and bringing them to justice. Meanwhile, the department is asking anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 918-596-COPS. Tips can be submitted anonymously.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. More updates are expected as police continue to gather information.
