On Friday, July 25, 2025, the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the identity of the deceased as 26-year-old Angel Arnoldo Garcia Mendoza, a beloved local resident.
Deputies responded to the area after receiving a call from a passerby who noticed what appeared to be a body in the water. Emergency services were immediately dispatched, and after a coordinated search and recovery operation, the remains were recovered near the Stuyvesant Falls dam.
