We are overwhelmed with grief and heartbreak as we mourn the tragic loss of two beloved members of our ARCOM family, Hannah Ford and Megan Herrold, both dedicated students from the Class of 2026. Their sudden and untimely passing has sent shockwaves through the Arkansas College of Health Education (ACHE) community, leaving behind a void that cannot be filled.
Hannah and Megan were more than students — they were bright, compassionate, and deeply committed to the calling of medicine. Their passion for learning, service, and caring for others made them shining examples of what it means to be part of the healing profession. In lecture halls, labs, and clinical settings, they not only pursued excellence but also uplifted those around them with kindness, empathy, and a willingness to help wherever needed.
To their classmates and professors, they were friends, colleagues, and role models. To their families and loved ones, they were irreplaceable lights — daughters, sisters, confidantes, and inspirations. The depth of this loss is felt across every corner of our campus, as we struggle to comprehend a future without their presence.
In times like this, words often fall short, yet we extend our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of Hannah and Megan. Our hearts ache with you. We stand beside you in mourning and will continue to hold you in love and prayer in the days ahead.
We also offer our love and support to the students, faculty, and staff who are hurting. In the face of such an immense tragedy, it is more important than ever that we care for one another, lean on one another, and seek comfort in our shared grief. No one has to walk through this pain alone.
To help our community through this difficult time, counseling services will be available on campus throughout the week. We urge all students, faculty, and staff to reach out if you need support — whether to speak, to listen, or simply to sit with someone who understands.
As we honor the memories of Hannah Ford and Megan Herrold, let us remember them not just for how they died, but for how they lived: with passion, purpose, and hearts full of compassion. Their legacy will live on in the lives they touched and the difference they made — and continue to make — in this world.
May their memories be a blessing, and may their spirits live on in every act of care, every moment of empathy, and every step forward we take in their honor.
With sorrow and solidarity,
The ACHE/ARCOM Community
