ARREST MADE IN ONGOING DRUG ENTERPRISE INVESTIGATION Sheriff James R. Fisher Announces Arrest Related to Major Criminal Probe in Morgan County

Morgan County, OH – July 28, 2025 – In a significant development in the fight against organized criminal activity and drug trafficking, the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office, working in collaboration with the Washington County-based Joint Investigations Unit, has announced the arrest of 22-year-old Jaron Mayle. The arrest follows the return of a formal indictment by the Morgan County Grand Jury and represents a critical step in an ongoing investigation into a complex criminal network operating in the region.

Jaron Mayle has been indicted and charged with Obstructing Justice, a third-degree felony under Ohio Revised Code 2921.32. According to investigators, Mayle is alleged to have intentionally taken actions to hinder or delay law enforcement operations, particularly in efforts connected to multiple felony-level crimes, including the active investigation of a homicide. Authorities believe these actions were part of a broader attempt to interfere with the judicial process and shield others involved in the suspected criminal enterprise.

Mayle is currently being held on a $100,000 bond, with the condition allowing for release upon the payment of 10%. The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office has emphasized that the investigation remains active and ongoing, and additional arrests and charges are possible as law enforcement agencies continue to piece together the full extent of the operation.

“This arrest reflects our unwavering commitment to rooting out organized criminal activity and drug trafficking in Morgan County,” said Sheriff James R. Fisher. “We are not only pursuing those who distribute and profit from narcotics but also those who attempt to obstruct justice and enable these enterprises to persist.”

The Sheriff’s Office extended thanks to multiple partners who played critical roles in advancing the investigation, including:

  • Sheriff Mark Warden
  • Washington County-based Joint Investigations Unit
  • Bureau of Criminal Investigation & Identification (BCI&I)
  • Morgan County Prosecutor Richard D. Welch and his legal team

These agencies have been instrumental in coordinating surveillance, gathering intelligence, and preparing evidence for grand jury proceedings.

“This arrest is just one piece of a much larger effort,” noted Sheriff Fisher. “It sends a clear message: those who interfere with investigations, conceal evidence, or protect those involved in serious crimes will be held accountable.”

The broader investigation is focused on dismantling drug-related criminal enterprises that pose a threat to the safety and well-being of Morgan County residents. Law enforcement urges community members to come forward with any information that may assist in this ongoing effort.

All suspects, including Mr. Mayle, are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
