Sheriff Rob Streck Responds
In a public statement, Montgomery County Sheriff Rob Streck addressed the magnitude of the case:
“The allegations in this case are deeply disturbing, and we are committed to holding individuals accountable who prey on vulnerable members of our community. We are grateful for the collaborative efforts of our law enforcement partners and urge anyone with additional information to come forward.”
Active and Ongoing Investigation
Authorities stress that the investigation is far from over, and they believe there may be additional victims or witnesses who have not yet been identified. Investigators are urging anyone with tips or relevant information to contact the Regional Dispatch Center at 937-225-HELP (4357). All reports will be handled with the highest degree of sensitivity and confidentiality.
The Miami Valley Human Trafficking Task Force continues to assist in the investigation, focusing not only on Hunt’s alleged actions but also on the possibility of wider systemic abuse and additional accomplices or enablers who may have overlooked or failed to report red flags during Hunt’s employment with the school district.
Community Impact and School District Response
The news of Hunt’s indictment has sent shockwaves through the Northmont community, particularly among parents, students, and school staff. The Northmont City Schools District has not issued a detailed public comment since the initial arrest in May but is expected to release a statement in the coming days in light of the indictment. Sources close to the school report that counselors and crisis response teams have been made available to students and staff affected by the revelations.
This case underscores the importance of vigilance and early reporting in protecting minors and holding those in positions of power accountable. Community members are encouraged to remain alert and to support survivors as the legal process unfolds.
What’s Next
Matthew Hunt is expected to face a series of court hearings in the coming weeks, with prosecutors likely to pursue an aggressive case given the number and nature of the charges. If convicted on the most serious counts, Hunt could face life imprisonment.
The Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office has not yet announced whether additional charges or co-defendants may be added to the case, but sources indicate the investigation is continuing to develop.
As the judicial process moves forward, law enforcement remains committed to uncovering the full truth and providing justice for the victims impacted by this deeply troubling case.
