In Loving Memory of Ms. LaNora Emziah, C’68 Spelman Sister • Community Leader • Faithful Servant

It is with profound sorrow and heartfelt remembrance that we announce the passing of our beloved Spelman Sister, Ms. LaNora Emziah, a proud member of the Spelman College Class of 1968. Her transition leaves a deep void not only within the Spelman sisterhood but also in the hearts of the countless individuals and communities she so graciously served throughout her life.

Ms. LaNora Emziah was a charter member of the Columbus, Georgia Chapter of the National Alumnae Association of Spelman College (NAASC), a role she embraced with unparalleled commitment. From the chapter’s inception, she remained a pillar of strength and leadership, continuously offering her time, wisdom, and unwavering devotion to the values of Spelman College and the betterment of Black women and girls across generations.

Her legacy of sisterhood, service, and strength extended well beyond alumnae circles. A dedicated community advocate and woman of faith, Ms. Emziah touched the lives of many through her tireless efforts in education, civic engagement, and church ministry. Her radiant spirit, boundless compassion, and sharp intellect made her a role model and mentor to many.

As we mourn her passing, we also celebrate a life so richly lived—a life rooted in purpose, integrity, and love. Ms. Emziah embodied the very best of what it means to be a Spelman woman. Her faith was steadfast, her love for her community profound, and her impact lasting.
