Columbus Police Search for Two Suspects in Macon Road Shooting Investigation

COLUMBUS, Ga. – The Columbus Police Department is actively investigating a shooting incident that occurred on Friday, July 26, in the 3400 block of Macon Road, and are currently seeking two male suspects believed to have connections to Nashville, Tennessee.

Officers were dispatched to the area following reports of an assault involving gunfire in a busy commercial area. The incident took place in the parking lot of a shopping center, prompting concern and alarm among nearby businesses and residents.

According to preliminary findings released by police, the shooting unfolded after an altercation between two unidentified men and a male victim. The men allegedly exchanged words with the victim as he was walking through the parking lot. The nature of the dispute remains unclear, and authorities have not yet confirmed whether the parties were acquainted prior to the confrontation.

Shortly after the verbal exchange, the two suspects entered a vehicle—described only as a dark-colored sedan—and circled through the lot. Moments later, multiple gunshots were fired from within the vehicle, directed at the victim. Witnesses reported hearing several loud shots ring out, causing panic and prompting several nearby individuals to seek shelter.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported as a result of the gunfire. The victim was not struck, and no bystanders were harmed, though the incident left many shaken by the sudden violence in what is typically a well-trafficked area.

Following the shooting, the suspects fled the scene at a high rate of speed. Investigators believe the pair may have ties to Nashville, Tennessee, and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
