PRING LAKE, NC — A months-long homicide investigation took a major step forward on Friday, August 1, 2025, when Tresean Alexander Green, a 22-year-old male, was arrested by authorities in connection to the murder of Damonte Larsen. The arrest came after the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Marshals Service received a tip from Fayetteville / Cumberland County Crime Stoppers that led them to Green’s location.
Green, described as a Black male, 22 years of age, was wanted for First-Degree Murder stemming from an incident that occurred on October 31, 2024, in the 1300 block of Atomic Drive in Spring Lake. That Halloween night turned deadly when Damonte Larsen, the victim, was fatally shot. Investigators have not publicly disclosed the motive behind the shooting but confirmed that Green was identified early in the investigation as the primary suspect.
Thanks to the anonymous tip received through the Crime Stoppers program, law enforcement officials located and apprehended Green without incident. He has since been processed into the Cumberland County Detention Center, where he is currently being held without bond.
Green is scheduled to make his first court appearance at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, August 4, 2025, at the Cumberland County Detention Center. It is expected that prosecutors will begin outlining the case against him during the hearing, while defense counsel may seek a continuance or initial motions.
The arrest marks a significant development in a case that had remained unsolved for nearly ten months, and law enforcement officials credited the arrest to vital public involvement.
“We sincerely thank the public for stepping forward with valuable information,” a spokesperson for the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office stated. “This arrest would not have been possible without community members who care enough to speak up.”
The Fayetteville / Cumberland County Crime Stoppers program was praised for its critical role in assisting law enforcement while preserving the anonymity of those who submit tips.
Anyone with further information related to the case is urged to contact Homicide Detective Senior Sergeant J. McLeod at (910) 677-5548, or submit information anonymously through Crime Stoppers by calling (910) 483-TIPS (8477).
