MERIDEN, CT — The Meriden Police Department has arrested Cody Cavrudatz, following an in-depth investigation by its Special Crimes Unit into a report of sexual misconduct involving a minor. The investigation, which began in December 2024, has led to multiple serious charges across several jurisdictions.
According to a statement from Meriden Police, the department was initially contacted regarding a possible incident that occurred within the city limits. Detectives from the Special Crimes Unit took immediate action to investigate the report, conducting interviews and gathering evidence. Over the course of their investigation, officers determined that an 8-year-old child had allegedly been subjected to repeated inappropriate contact.
Further investigation revealed a second, unrelated incident that is believed to have occurred in Southington, CT, prompting the involvement of the Southington Police Department and the Wallingford Police Department. Working together, the three agencies were able to obtain multiple arrest warrants for Cavrudatz.
On July 29, 2025, authorities arrested Cavrudatz without incident. He was formally charged and held on $800,000 bond. He now faces the following charges:
- Two counts of Sexual Assault in the First Degree
- One count of Sexual Assault in the Second Degree
- One count of Sexual Assault in the Fourth Degree
- Three counts of Risk of Injury to a Minor
These charges are serious in nature and reflect the results of a multi-jurisdictional investigation that authorities say is still ongoing. Officials have stated that additional charges are not being ruled out as they continue to examine evidence and pursue any further leads.
The Meriden Police Department has thanked both the public and their law enforcement partners for their assistance. “This case underscores the importance of collaboration between agencies to ensure the protection and safety of vulnerable individuals in our communities,” a department spokesperson said.
Cavrudatz is scheduled for arraignment and will proceed through the legal process. As always, all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
