Fair Oaks Ranch, TX – The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office has officially identified Allison Clark III, aged 71, as the victim of a fatal stabbing that took place in Fair Oaks Ranch on the morning of July 26, 2025. His sudden and tragic passing has left his loved ones and the broader community in deep shock and mourning.
Clark, a long-time resident of the quiet and close-knit neighborhood, succumbed to a sharp force injury to his chest, according to a report issued Saturday evening by the medical examiner. The death has been classified as a homicide.
The Incident
The Fair Oaks Ranch Police Department responded to a distress call at approximately 9:30 a.m. on Duberry Ridge, a residential street within the peaceful hill country community located just north of San Antonio. Upon entering the home, officers found Clark III with fatal stab wounds. Life-saving measures were unsuccessful, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to officials with the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO), investigators discovered a kitchen knife—believed to be the weapon used in the homicide—inside the kitchen sink of the residence.
In a tragic and deeply disturbing development, Clark’s son, Allison Paul Clark IV, 34, has confessed to the crime. According to police records, Clark IV voluntarily surrendered himself at the Fair Oaks Ranch Police Department shortly after the incident occurred. During his interview with detectives, he admitted to fatally stabbing his father during what authorities are now describing as a domestic dispute.
He was booked into the Bexar County Adult Detention Center later that same day and is currently facing a murder charge, as indicated in county jail records. The investigation is now under the direction of the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit.
A Life Remembered
Allison Clark III was known for his calm demeanor, integrity, and enduring devotion to his family. A retired engineer and Navy veteran, Clark was widely admired by neighbors and friends for his deep intellect, warm hospitality, and steadfast work ethic. His home in Fair Oaks Ranch had long been a gathering place for family and close friends—particularly during holidays and long summer evenings, where laughter and storytelling filled the air.
He was a dedicated father and grandfather, and despite life’s many challenges, he was known to express pride in his family. Those who knew Clark describe him as a man of quiet strength, deeply rooted in his values, and someone who found joy in the simple routines of life—gardening in the morning sun, reading history books, and sharing heartfelt conversations with those he loved.
Clark was an alumnus of Texas A&M University, where he earned a degree in mechanical engineering in the 1970s. After a successful career in the energy sector, he retired to focus on family, community service, and his hobbies, which included woodworking, classic car restoration, and volunteering at a local veterans’ support center.
A Tragedy Beyond Words
The tragic nature of Clark’s death is compounded by the fact that the accused is his own son. Those close to the family have expressed disbelief and sorrow, noting that Clark IV had been struggling with personal and mental health challenges in recent years.
“This is not something anyone could have seen coming,” said a neighbor who had lived nearby for over a decade. “Allison loved his son. You could tell he was doing everything he could to help him get back on track.”
Domestic violence and mental health advocates have emphasized the importance of continued community awareness and support structures for families dealing with mental illness and family strife.
Ongoing Investigation
While Clark IV remains in custody, investigators continue to piece together the events leading up to the stabbing. Authorities have not released additional information on the nature of the domestic dispute, nor whether there were any prior warning signs or documented incidents of family conflict.
BCSO has encouraged anyone with further information about the case to come forward. The investigation remains active and is expected to proceed to the next phase of judicial processing.
In Loving Memory
In the wake of this immense loss, the Clark family has requested privacy as they grieve and prepare to honor Allison Clark III’s life. Funeral arrangements are being made and will be announced at a later time.
The community of Fair Oaks Ranch mourns alongside the Clark family and will remember Allison Clark III as a man of honor, warmth, and principle—whose life, though tragically cut short, leaves behind a lasting legacy.
