PETROLIA, TX – After hours of closure due to a tragic accident, Highway 79 is now fully open to traffic, authorities have confirmed. The Clay County Sheriff’s Office and the Department of Public Safety had shut down the highway between State Highway 148 and Jones Street following a deadly two-vehicle collision near Prairie Avenue.
The crash, which occurred earlier today, claimed the life of at least one individual. Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene immediately, where they worked to secure the area, assess the damage, and provide medical assistance. Sadly, despite these efforts, one life was lost in the incident. The name of the deceased has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin.
