It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we share the devastating news of the passing of Jonty Ryan, a deeply loved and respected young member of the Fordell School and Feilding communities in New Zealand. Jonty tragically lost his life in an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) accident, a sudden and heartbreaking event that has left his family, friends, and educators in shock and mourning.
Jonty was the cherished son of Amy and Aaron Ryan, and the adored big brother of Evie. Though still so young, Jonty’s character stood out—marked by quiet strength, natural humility, and an unwavering kindness that touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know him. He lived with integrity beyond his years, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and connection.
At Fordell School, where Jonty spent his early school years, he quickly became a student that teachers admired, classmates respected, and younger children looked up to. As a proud member of Tawa House, Jonty gave his all—whether it was running cross country, helping on sports days, offering a hand to a friend, or diving headfirst into muddy adventures with joy written all over his face.
Jonty’s love for the outdoors and farming life was evident from a young age. He was never afraid to get his hands dirty, and he embraced hard work with enthusiasm. Whether on a rugby field or helping out at home, he approached life with energy, dedication, and a quiet confidence that made him a natural leader—without ever needing to raise his voice.
His bond with his younger sister Evie was something truly special. Jonty was not just a big brother—he was her protector, her playmate, and her hero.
