Maureen Maguire Obituary – Remembering a Life of Grace, Love, and Devotion

Gladwyne, PA – With hearts full of sorrow but also gratitude for a life beautifully lived, we announce the passing of Maureen Maguire, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Maureen passed away peacefully at the age of 74, surrounded by the love of her cherished family, leaving behind a legacy steeped in warmth, kindness, and unwavering devotion.

Born November 21, 1950, in the Bronx, New York, Maureen began her journey in the lively rhythm of New York City. Yet it was in the gentle suburbs of Philadelphia where she planted deep roots, nurtured lifelong connections, and built a home that radiated love and welcome.

Maureen was the heart of her family. She was the devoted wife of the late Daniel J. Maguire, Jr., whom she adored throughout their life together. Their marriage was a true partnership built on mutual respect, laughter, and enduring affection. Together, they raised three children—Chuck (Jessica), Courtney (David), and Patrick (Christen)—to whom Maureen gave her unconditional love, support, and guidance.

A proud graduate of Archbishop Prendergast High School (Class of 1968), Maureen continued her education at West Chester University, earning her degree in 1972. She began her career as an elementary school teacher, where her natural warmth, empathy, and patience shone in every lesson. While she eventually stepped away from the classroom to raise her family, the impact of her nurturing spirit extended far beyond the school walls.

Her greatest joys were found within the roles she embraced most fully: mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She delighted in family traditions, impromptu gatherings, and creating a home where laughter echoed, and everyone was made to feel they belonged. Her six beloved grandchildren became the bright center of her world, each one treasured and celebrated by their devoted “Nana.”

Maureen was the deeply loved sister of Loretta O’Brien (Kevin) and John Bullock (Linda), and she held dear the memory of her parents, Howard and Cecilia Bullock, and her younger brother, Howie, whose presence she carried with her in spirit throughout her life.

Those who knew Maureen best will remember her unshakable optimism, her contagious laughter, and the way she found joy in life’s simplest pleasures. Whether spending carefree days with her toes in the sand in Cape May, lovingly caring for her dog Butch, or hosting vibrant dinner parties where every guest felt like family, Maureen radiated light and love. Her signature tennis skirts became a symbol of her personality—whimsical, confident, and entirely her own.

In her later years, Maureen shared a joyful companionship with Ed Kelce, a friendship that brought new adventures, heartfelt connection, and countless cherished memories. Whether attending concerts, football games, or traveling together, Maureen embraced this chapter with the same enthusiasm and grace that defined her entire life.

Above all, Maureen Maguire will be remembered for her boundless heart. She had an unmatched gift for making others feel seen, heard, and loved. Her home was always open, her smile ever bright, and her legacy one that will live on in the stories and lives she touched.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, her grandchildren, her siblings, and an extended circle of family, friends, and neighbors who will carry her memory forward with affection and reverence.

A Final Goodbye

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, August 7, following a visitation from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at St. John Vianney Church, 350 Conshohocken State Road, Gladwyne, PA 19035. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend and honor Maureen’s life.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Penn Heart Transplant Fund, a cause especially close to Maureen’s heart. Contributions will go toward supporting individuals facing financial challenges while undergoing heart transplants.

As we say goodbye, we hold tightly to Maureen’s enduring spirit—a beacon of compassion, joy, and love. Though her absence will be deeply felt, her memory will live on in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to be part of her remarkable journey.
