BARR TOWNSHIP, PA — A quiet Sunday morning turned tragic in northern Cambria County after a devastating vehicle accident claimed one life and left three others injured. Authorities confirmed that the crash occurred shortly before 6 a.m. on Nicktown Hill Road, near Brick Road Lane in Barr Township. Emergency response teams and law enforcement agencies rushed to the scene in the early hours of Sunday, August 3, 2025.
Cambria County Coroner Jeffrey Lees, along with the Pennsylvania State Police and a Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Specialist, remained on site well into the late morning hours, working meticulously to reconstruct the crash and determine its cause. As of 10:30 a.m., Coroner Lees was still present, overseeing the ongoing investigation and recovery efforts.
According to Coroner Lees, the passenger vehicle involved was carrying four individuals at the time of the crash. Tragically, one person died at the scene as a result of injuries sustained in the accident. The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
“This is a heartbreaking incident, and our thoughts are with the families of all those involved,” said Coroner Lees at the scene. “Our focus now is on conducting a thorough investigation and supporting the survivors and their families in any way we can.”
Three Survivors Rushed for Emergency Treatment
Of the three surviving occupants, one individual was airlifted to the West Penn Burn Center in Pittsburgh with what were described as serious injuries. The other two passengers were transported to Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown, where they are currently receiving treatment for their injuries. Their conditions have not yet been publicly disclosed.
