HOT SPRINGS, Ark. — The Hot Springs Police Department (HSPD) is actively investigating a deadly shooting that occurred in the early morning hours of Sunday, August 3, 2025, leaving one man dead and a community on edge. Authorities have since identified a suspect in the case and are now searching for 25-year-old Austin Lee Warren, who is wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of 43-year-old James Charles.
Timeline of the Incident
According to HSPD officials, the violent episode began around 1:42 a.m. Sunday, when officers were dispatched to a shots-fired call in the 300 block of Mason Street. While police were en route, a 911 caller reported that someone had possibly been shot and was lying in a yard in the area.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a man, later identified as James Charles, suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency medical responders quickly transported Charles to a nearby hospital. Tragically, despite the efforts of medical personnel, Charles succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
