LEIGHTON, Ala. — A tragic accident on Thursday, July 31, 2025, has resulted in the death of a Muscle Shoals woman and the arrest of a driver on DUI charges. The fatal crash occurred around 1:35 p.m. on Alabama Highway 20, near the 36-mile marker, approximately one mile east of Leighton in Colbert County.
According to a report from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), 38-year-old Keddra C. Ingram, a beloved resident of Muscle Shoals, was the passenger in a 2025 Lincoln Corsair that collided with the rear of a 2018 Freightliner tractor-trailer. Tragically, Ingram was pronounced dead at the scene by the Colbert County Coroner’s Office.
The Corsair was being driven by David Allen Drumgood, 37, who was arrested at the scene by ALEA State Troopers. According to court records, Drumgood was allegedly under the influence of both alcohol and a controlled substance, impairing his ability to operate a vehicle safely. He now faces DUI-related charges, and further charges are expected as the investigation progresses.
The Lincoln Corsair involved in the crash was reportedly owned by Ms. Ingram, further compounding the tragedy of her untimely death.
The Freightliner, operated by Willie M. Johnson Jr., 38, of Decatur, was also traveling eastbound when the collision occurred. Johnson was not reported to have sustained any injuries in the crash.
As of Monday, Drumgood remains incarcerated in the Colbert County Jail, pending formal charges related to the fatality. The case is currently under active investigation by ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division, which continues to gather evidence, conduct toxicology analyses, and determine the full sequence of events that led to the fatal crash.
Family members, friends, and the broader Muscle Shoals community are mourning the loss of Ms. Ingram, who is remembered as a kind-hearted and generous soul. Tributes are pouring in on social media, reflecting the deep grief felt throughout the Shoals area.
