SEAFORD, DE — A devastating two-vehicle collision that occurred last week in Sussex County has now turned fatal, claiming the life of a 6-year-old child from Bridgeville, Delaware. Delaware State Police have confirmed that the child, who was critically injured in the crash on Saturday, July 27, 2025, succumbed to his injuries on August 1 at an area hospital.
Crash Details
The collision occurred at approximately 4:28 p.m. at the intersection of Coverdale Road and Hastings Farm Road, just outside of Seaford. According to Delaware State Police, a Toyota Corolla was traveling southbound on Coverdale Road, approaching a stop sign at Hastings Farm Road. At the same time, a Toyota Tundra pickup truck was traveling eastbound on Hastings Farm Road, nearing the same intersection.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of the Corolla, a 44-year-old woman from Bridgeville, failed to stop at the posted stop sign. As the Corolla entered the intersection, it was T-boned by the approaching Tundra, which struck the passenger side of the smaller vehicle with significant force.
Innocent Life Lost
In the back seat of the Corolla was a 6-year-old boy, also from Bridgeville, who suffered life-threatening injuries in the collision. He was immediately transported by emergency responders to a nearby hospital, where he fought for several days before tragically passing away on Friday, August 1.

Others Injured in the Crash
