ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, VA — Authorities are actively investigating a violent and tragic home invasion that occurred late Sunday night in the 13000 block of North Valley Pike, claiming the lives of a beloved Rockingham County woman and the alleged intruder, who has been identified as Kevin Moses Walker, 41, of Pikesville, Maryland.
The Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office (RCSO), with support from the Virginia State Police, responded to a 911 emergency call placed at 11:58 p.m. on Sunday, August 3. Upon arrival at the residence, deputies encountered a bloodied and visibly injured man standing outside — later identified as 65-year-old Michael Hatcher, the homeowner and husband of one of the victims.
A Violent Night Unfolds
According to the official release from RCSO, Michael Hatcher placed the emergency call after a violent confrontation unfolded inside his home. The intruder, later identified as Kevin Moses Walker, had allegedly entered the residence armed with a large knife.
