Manhunt Underway for Attempted Murder Suspect Corie Martinez – Public Urged to Assist with Information

Orangeburg County, SC – Sheriff Leroy Ravenell of the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office has issued a public appeal for assistance in locating a suspect wanted in connection to an attempted murder, as well as a young woman believed to be endangered and in his company.

According to authorities, 20-year-old Corie Martinez is wanted for attempted murder following a July 31, 2025, shooting that left a male victim seriously injured. Sheriff Ravenell emphasized that Martinez should be considered armed and dangerous and that members of the public should not attempt to approach him under any circumstances.

In a concerning development, investigators believe 19-year-old Mary Virginia Dilling is currently traveling with Martinez and has been listed as missing and endangered. Dilling’s safety is a top concern for law enforcement officials, and urgent efforts are being made to locate her.

Suspect and Victim Details

Martinez is described as a Hispanic male, approximately 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing around 280 pounds. Dilling is a white female, standing 5 feet 6 inches tall, and weighing approximately 120 pounds. The pair were last seen together on July 31, 2025, the same day as the shooting incident.

Authorities believe the two may be traveling in a white 2013 Kia Optima bearing South Carolina license plate 563-BRL. Notably, the vehicle is missing its front bumper, which may help individuals spot it.

Public Safety and Appeal for Information

Sheriff Ravenell stressed the urgency of the situation:

“This individual should be considered armed and dangerous. We are asking the community to be alert and cautious. If you spot him or know his whereabouts, do not try to apprehend him. Call law enforcement immediately.”

He added that the Sheriff’s Office is especially concerned about Mary Virginia Dilling’s well-being and is treating her disappearance with the highest level of urgency.
