The Saginaw community is grieving after a tragic shooting on the city’s east side left a 1-year-old child dead and a 25-year-old man critically injured. The incident occurred on Monday, August 4, 2025, around 6:55 p.m. near the intersection of Robinwood Avenue and Erie Street.
According to police reports, officers were dispatched following a call reporting a shooting in the area. Dispatchers were informed that two individuals with gunshot wounds were being transported to a local hospital in a privately owned vehicle. Shortly thereafter, a vehicle arrived at Covenant Hospital carrying the two victims: a 25-year-old male resident of Saginaw and an infant boy, just 1 year old.
Despite efforts by hospital staff to save the child, the 1-year-old was pronounced deceased. The 25-year-old victim remains in critical condition, fighting for his life. The details surrounding the shooting, including the motive and circumstances, are still under active investigation.
Saginaw Police, alongside Michigan State Police detectives from the Major Crimes Unit, are working diligently to gather evidence and pursue leads. As of now, no arrests have been made.
