Texarkana, AR – In the early hours of Sunday, August 3, 2025, the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department (TAPD) responded swiftly to a disturbance reported in the 200 block of Wood Street, near the popular local venue Hopkins Icehouse. At approximately 1:39 a.m., officers were dispatched to the scene following reports of a physical altercation in the roadway.
Upon arrival, responding officers observed two adult males actively engaged in a fight in the middle of the street. The individuals were identified as Jeffery Russett, age 39, and Erickson Poyner, age 21. Due to officers witnessing the incident firsthand, both Russett and Poyner were immediately taken into custody for disorderly conduct.
The two men were transported without incident to the Miller County Detention Center, where they were formally booked on charges of disorderly conduct. TAPD confirmed that both individuals were offered medical attention at the scene, which they declined, and were subsequently released to detention staff for processing.
This incident underscores TAPD’s continued commitment to public safety and community peace, particularly in the city’s entertainment and nightlife districts. Officers routinely conduct extra patrols in areas with high foot traffic during weekend evenings to ensure the safety of both residents and visitors.
“We maintain a zero-tolerance approach to violent behavior in public spaces,” said a department spokesperson. “The safety of our citizens is our top priority, and any behavior that puts that safety at risk will be met with swift and appropriate action.”
The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the altercation remains open, and TAPD encourages anyone with further information or who may have witnessed the incident to contact the department’s non-emergency line.
