WASHINGTON COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE: INVESTIGATION LEADS TO CSAM ARREST

Washington County, AR — A months-long investigation by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, has led to the arrest of a Lincoln-area man on multiple counts related to child sexual abuse material (CSAM).

The case began when a detective assigned to the ICAC Task Force received a Cyber Tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). The tip, which included a case number and digital evidence, indicated that CSAM had been uploaded online. Investigators confirmed that the file provided by NCMEC was indeed child sexual abuse material.

Through further digital tracing, detectives identified a phone number associated with the uploaded material. That number led authorities to Casey Simpson, a resident in the Lincoln, Arkansas area.

On May 22, 2025, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division executed a search warrant at Simpson’s residence. During the operation, Simpson was interviewed and denied any intentional involvement in downloading CSAM, stating that if he had accessed the material by mistake, he would have deleted it.

Several electronic devices were seized at the scene and submitted for forensic examination. After thorough analysis, detectives discovered multiple images of CSAM stored on the devices, with clear digital evidence linking them to Simpson.

On August 5, 2025, Simpson was brought in for a second interview. When confronted with the forensic evidence recovered from his devices, he admitted to both downloading and trading CSAM online.

As a result, Casey Simpson has been arrested and charged with ten counts of distributing, possessing, or viewing matter depicting sexually explicit conduct involving a child. He is currently being held at the Washington County Detention Center.

Authorities emphasize that this is an arrest based on probable cause and not a conviction. The legal process will proceed accordingly, and Simpson is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to identifying and arresting individuals who exploit children online. Officials urge anyone with information related to suspected online child exploitation to report it to NCMEC or local law enforcement.
