Camden County, NJ — A Camden County jury has delivered a guilty verdict in a high-profile murder case involving a deadly shooting at a Lindenwold recording studio in 2022. Ronin A. Nevels, 25, of Lindenwold, was found guilty of first-degree Murder for the fatal shooting of 23-year-old Isaiah Shaw of Winslow Township, officials announced on July 31, 2025.
The announcement was made by Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay and Lindenwold Police Chief Michael McCarthy Jr., following a four-week jury trial in Camden County Superior Court.
In addition to the murder charge, Nevels was also convicted of:
- Second-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon
- Second-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose
- Fourth-degree Criminal Trespass
The Incident
The crime occurred on the night of Friday, September 30, 2022, at IAO Studios, a local recording studio located in the 2500 block of Egg Harbor Road in Lindenwold. At approximately 9:52 p.m., officers from the Lindenwold Police Department responded to a report of a person being shot.
Upon arrival, officers discovered Isaiah Shaw, who had sustained a gunshot wound to the head. Despite efforts by first responders, Shaw was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Detectives from the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office and Lindenwold Police Department immediately launched an investigation. After collecting physical evidence and conducting multiple witness interviews, authorities identified Ronin Nevels as the suspect responsible for the shooting.
Arrest and Standoff
The day after the shooting, on Saturday, October 1, 2022, Nevels was located at a residence in Gloucester Township. He initially barricaded himself inside the home, prompting a response from the Gloucester Township Police Department Special Response Team.
Following tense negotiations, Nevels ultimately surrendered peacefully and was taken into custody without further incident.
Legal Proceedings
During the trial, Assistant Prosecutor Kevin Moran, who serves as the Homicide Unit Section Chief for the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office, presented the case on behalf of the State. The jury heard compelling evidence, including eyewitness testimony, forensic findings, and surveillance footage.
The investigation was led by Sergeant Kyrus Ingalls of the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office and Detective Ryan Brennan of the Lindenwold Police Department, both of whom were instrumental in building the case that led to Nevels’ conviction.
Nevels is currently being held in custody and is scheduled to be sentenced on September 11, 2025. He faces the potential of life imprisonment for the first-degree murder conviction, along with additional time for the weapons and trespassing offenses.
