WARE SHOALS, S.C. – A heavy law enforcement presence descended on a neighborhood in Ware Shoals on Wednesday night after reports of gunfire led the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO) to respond swiftly to an active situation on Smith Street Extension.
According to GCSO Public Information Officer Josh Hood, deputies were dispatched to the area after receiving reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, deputies were able to quickly determine the residence from which the shots were fired. The scene was immediately secured to ensure the safety of nearby residents and to allow the department’s Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team to safely respond to the potentially volatile situation.
SWAT officers successfully made contact with the individual involved in the incident. While the circumstances leading up to the shooting remain under investigation, Hood confirmed that the situation has been brought under control.
