CHICAGO — A late-night mass shooting on the city’s West Side left multiple people injured early Sunday morning, according to Chicago police.
Authorities said the violence unfolded just before 1:50 a.m. in the 4500 block of West Wilcox Avenue, an area in the West Garfield Park neighborhood. Police responded after receiving multiple 911 calls reporting gunfire.
When officers arrived, they encountered a chaotic scene, with groups of young people gathered in the street and several victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Witnesses reported hearing a rapid succession of shots before crowds scattered in panic.
Chicago Police Department officials confirmed that at least five people were taken to area hospitals for treatment. Four of the victims were transported to Mount Sinai Hospital, while one was taken to Stroger Hospital.

- A 16-year-old boy who was shot multiple times. He remains in serious condition at Mount Sinai Hospital.
- A 28-year-old man who suffered gunshot wounds to the neck and head. He is also listed in serious condition at Mount Sinai.
- A 15-year-old boy who sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the body. He was transported to Stroger Hospital and is expected to recover.
- Another 28-year-old man who suffered a graze wound to the leg. He was taken to Mount Sinai in good condition.
Police have not released details about a possible motive or suspect description. Detectives are reviewing security camera footage from the area and interviewing witnesses in an effort to identify those responsible.
