The Birmingham community mourns the loss of Taevon Jamir Arnold, a 31-year-old man who was fatally shot last week in an incident that has since sparked an active investigation.
According to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, Arnold was the victim of a shooting on the 1400 block of 1st Avenue North on August 8. Alongside another victim, Arnold was rushed from the scene to UAB Hospital for emergency medical treatment. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Arnold tragically succumbed to his injuries while at the hospital.
Birmingham police have confirmed that a suspect believed to be connected to the shooting was apprehended on Saturday. The arrest marks a significant development in the ongoing investigation, but authorities are still seeking additional information to bring full clarity and justice to the case.
