BRANT COUNTY, Ontario — The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Brant County Detachment is investigating a tragic two-vehicle collision that claimed the life of a 28-year-old man from Woodstock on Sunday night.
Shortly before 10:00 p.m. on August 10, 2025, officers were called to the scene on Highway 53, just west of Burford, following reports of a crash involving a motorcycle and an SUV. Upon arrival, emergency responders found the motorcycle rider critically injured. Despite lifesaving measures, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
As part of the response, Middle Townline Road was closed between Sixth Concession Road and Seventh Concession Road, and Highway 53 was closed between Lawrence Road and Harley Road in Brant. The closures remained in place for several hours while collision reconstruction experts examined the scene, gathered evidence, and documented the vehicles involved. The roads have since reopened.
The identity of the victim has not yet been released, pending notification of next of kin. Police have not released details on the condition of the SUV driver or any possible contributing factors, such as speed, impairment, or weather conditions.
The OPP is urging anyone who may have been in the area at the time to come forward. Investigators are particularly interested in speaking with individuals who have dashcam footage from the stretch of road during the incident timeframe.
Witnesses or those with video evidence are asked to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Anonymous tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-222-8477 or visiting ontariocrimestoppers.ca.
