FREDERIC, WISCONSIN — A tragic accident in Polk County claimed the life of 70-year-old Rodney Bodell of Rush City, Minnesota, on Sunday afternoon, August 10, 2025. Authorities say the fatal collision occurred at approximately 3:13 p.m. on County Highway I near 90th Street in the village of Frederic.
According to the Wisconsin State Patrol, a northbound truck towing a trailer was traveling through a curve when the trailer suddenly tipped without warning. The shifting load caused the trailer to veer into the oncoming southbound lane, directly into the path of a motorcycle that had just turned south onto the roadway.
The trailer struck the motorcycle head-on, leaving Bodell with catastrophic injuries. Emergency crews arrived quickly, but despite life-saving efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities have not yet released details on what caused the trailer to tip, though weather and road conditions are expected to be factors under review. The driver of the truck was not reported injured.
The Wisconsin State Patrol, along with local law enforcement, continues to investigate the crash. They are working to determine whether mechanical issues, driver error, or other factors contributed to the deadly incident.
