It is with profound sadness and heartfelt gratitude that we share the news that Hannah Rose Moody was welcomed into the arms of Jesus while hiking near the McDowell Mountains in Scottsdale, Arizona — just one week shy of her 32nd birthday.
Her passing has left an unfillable void in the lives of her family, friends, and the many individuals she inspired. While the ache of her absence is deep, those who loved her take comfort in knowing she is now at peace in the eternal home she sought so earnestly throughout her life.
Born in Livermore, California, to John and Terri Moody, Hannah was the youngest of three children and the beloved little sister to Joel and Ethan. From her earliest days, she radiated joy, curiosity, and an adventurous spirit that would define her journey through life. She was the bright spark at family gatherings, always ready with laughter, thoughtful conversation, or a spontaneous plan for fun.
Hannah graduated from Granada High School in 2011 before attending Concordia University–Irvine and later Chapman University, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology. Her passion for health and fitness blossomed into a career as a personal trainer — both in-person and online — where she motivated clients with her trademark blend of encouragement, discipline, and deep empathy. She wasn’t just a coach; she was a cheerleader, confidante, and mentor to those she worked with.
Her commitment to self-improvement and physical fitness also led her into bodybuilding, where she won multiple competitions. Yet Hannah’s ambitions extended far beyond athletic achievements. She had a deep love for exploration — of places, ideas, and faith.
Over the years, she lived in Los Angeles, San Diego, Austin, Tempe, and Charleston, forming strong connections wherever she went. Her travels took her around the globe to Peru, Ireland, Costa Rica, Australia, Bali, and Vietnam, but she also cherished simple joys like trips to Disneyland, where she embraced her childlike wonder without reservation.
Hannah’s spiritual journey was one of the most defining chapters of her life. In her search for meaning and truth, she found her faith in God — a transformation that deeply impacted her worldview. With courage and transparency, she began sharing her story of redemption and grace, both in person and online. Through her Instagram account @itshanrose, she reached nearly 50,000 followers with uplifting messages about faith, fitness, nature, and perseverance. Her authenticity drew people in, and her words often felt like a lifeline to those navigating their own challenges.
In Scottsdale, Arizona, where she made her final home, Hannah was thriving — working as a restaurant server, hiking in the mountains she loved, and continuing to inspire others through her online presence. She had a special connection to nature, often chasing both sunrises and sunsets, seeing them as reflections of God’s artistry and love.
Her kindness was unbounded. Hannah was the type of person who would quietly pay for a stranger’s coffee, stop to hug a passerby’s dog, or take time to offer words of encouragement when someone needed them most. Even those who knew her only through social media felt they had encountered someone truly genuine.
Hannah is survived by her loving parents, John and Terri Moody of Livermore, CA; her brothers Joel (Kate) Moody of Osceola, IN, and Ethan (Sierrah) Moody of Bothell, WA; her niece Elizabeth and nephews Josiah, James, and Emmaus; her grandfather Fred Moody of Turlock, CA; her grandparents Owen and Shirley Halleen of Sioux Falls, SD; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins across the country. She was preceded in death by her grandmother Phyllis Moody.
A memorial service celebrating Hannah’s life will be held on June 17, 2025, at 1 p.m. at Cedar Grove Community Church in Livermore, CA. Those wishing to honor her memory are invited to make donations to International Justice Mission.
To remember her in daily life, her loved ones encourage acts of kindness in her spirit — buy a coffee for someone, hug a dog, or pause to watch a sunrise or sunset. Hannah believed that life’s beauty was meant to be shared, and in continuing those simple gestures, her light will keep shining in the hearts of all who knew her.
If you want, I can also create a short, emotionally resonant headline for this piece so it reads like a formal obituary announcement.
