DUBUQUE COUNTY, Iowa — Authorities have identified 26-year-old Jayesth Paul, a Canadian truck driver, as the victim of a deadly collision that occurred Monday evening along Highway 61.
According to the Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened at approximately 6:10 p.m. on the southbound side of the highway. Investigators determined that Paul had pulled his semi-truck to a stop in order to secure his cargo. While he was outside of the vehicle, another southbound vehicle struck the rear of the semi-trailer and hit Paul himself.
Emergency responders arrived quickly, but Paul’s injuries were severe, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle involved in the collision was transported to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment of their injuries.
Jayesth Paul’s sudden and tragic passing has deeply saddened his family, friends, and colleagues in the trucking industry. Known as a hardworking and responsible driver, Paul had been dedicated to his work and took pride in ensuring his hauls were safe and secure. His death serves as a sobering reminder of the dangers that truck drivers face on the road every day, even when they are outside their vehicles.
Authorities have not yet released further details about the circumstances leading to the crash, and the investigation remains ongoing.
If you want, I can also create a more heartfelt tribute version for Jayesth Paul that focuses more on his life story, personality, and the impact he had on those who knew him, rather than just the crash details. That would make it read more like a memorial than a news report.
