NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Metro Nashville Police Youth Services detectives are working to uncover the circumstances surrounding the heartbreaking death of a six-year-old boy who suffered a fatal gunshot wound late Friday afternoon.
Authorities report that the boy’s parents rushed him to Southern Hills Medical Center after finding him injured while they were outside doing yard work in the Paragon Mills area. According to police, the child had been playing with his brother at the time of the shooting. Despite emergency efforts, the boy could not be saved.
Detectives say the parents have so far provided only limited details about the events leading up to the incident. Over the weekend, conflicting information emerged suggesting the shooting may have occurred outside Davidson County, though investigators have not yet confirmed the exact location.
At present, police stress there is no indication that anyone outside the immediate family was involved. Detectives are actively pursuing multiple investigative leads, reviewing evidence, and conducting interviews to determine precisely how the gunshot was fired and under what circumstances.
